Sick...Ugh

Phabian made it all the way to school today just for them to call us and tell us he needed to come home. He isn't running a fever or anything. Just vomit, diariah, and an upset tummy. maybe it is just a 24 hr bug. I pray that it is just that.

He has been laying on the couch since he got home a few hours ago. He seems to be feeling better already but who knows. As long as he is resting and drinking lots of fluids i suppose he will be alright. He wont be able to make football practice tonight and i hate that for him since this is the last week.

Oh yea did i mention that his team made it to the Super Bowl!!!! Go Generals!!!! I am so proud of my boy. This was his first year playing and he is just so excited about the championship. So i pray he is better by Sunday at least for he will be able to make the game.

So not much else to report here. Phabian - sick, Sione' - teething, MJ - brat (just kidding) (not really).

Hope you are all having a very blessed day.

Our Weekend

Well we have had quite the weekend. I would love to say we had a wonderful Christmas weekend and that all was well but alas that is just not how it went. But lets start at the beginning for those of you who don't follow me on twitter or facebook.

A few weeks ago Sione' started getting a little bit of a stuffy nose. I didn't think much of it because my other kids were a little stuffy as well and i figured it was just a little cold and would run its course and be gone.

Around the 22nd it turned into a little bit of a cough but still being a third time mom i figured just start suctioning the nose out and keep him warm and cared for and all will be fine with time. No need to rush off to the ER with a infant for a little cough and stuffy nose.

Christmas Day we packed up and went to my Brother's after we got done opening and playing with presents. While there i noticed Sione' was coughing a little harder than normal and he also was not eating well. He would wake up eat an ounce or so and then go back to sleep for 2 or 3 hours.

Now he did not get to 11lbs by eating an ounce every 3 hours so i knew something was not right. Later that night when we got home he was still sleeping a lot and not eating so i gave him a warm bath and kept him in the steamy bathroom for a few mins then laid him on the couch and suctioned him out really well. A few mins later he started coughing. He literally coughed til he turned blue. So i told Marcus it was time to take him to the ER.

I called my sister and ask if she would mind taking us. The big boys were already asleep and i didn't want to have to wake them up and drag them out to their Granny's in the cold. So she took us to the ER where we were told the great news. There was a 12+ hour wait. The back was full, 2 emergency ambulances has just shown up, and there were 4 people ahead of us in the waiting area. So i made the hard decision to go home and try again the next day. I honestly figured anything he had would only be made worse by sitting in the ER for 12+ hours with other sick people.

So the 26th we got up and headed to the local MedExpress. They took us back and the doctor came in to check him out. His pulse ox was a low and scary 92, which does not require oxygen but is a warning sign. They informed us they did not have the stuff to test for RSV and that we would need to go to the ER and possibly be admitted. The doctor was nice enough to call ahead to the ER and let them know the situation and that we were on our way. Before we left they gave him a nebulizer treatment to try and improve his pulse ox level.

When we arrived at the ER they took us back and immediately hooked him up to a pulse ox monitor. Thankfully the treatment had helped and his pulse ox was back up to 98. They ask what was going on and i explained the whole thing to the ER doc just as i did here on this blog.

At the ER in his Daddy's arms

She looked at me questioningly as if she didn't believe me when i said he had turned blue while coughing. She then said to me in an almost smartass tone that they would have to admit us if he was turning blue. She said it as if i would change my mind and say well maybe it was more red than blue or something. Of course i responded with a very polite...if that is what we need to do than ok...and she seemed surprised.

After a chest x-ray the pediatric docs came in and the were so sweet. They listened intently to what i was saying and then proceeded with a plan of action. They wanted to check for both RSV and Whooping Cough. They were more worried over WC then RSV since he has not been vaccinated for it yet.

After the ran the tests they admitted us to the pediatric floor and got him hooked up to an IV for fluids and chest monitors along with his pulse ox monitor. It was so sad to see him all hooked up to the monitors with wires and such going everywhere. He was such a trooper though.

Sorry its blurry but this is in our room after admission

I couldn't hold him much because of the wires and such and he was so good just sleeping on his own and only being held to feed him. I am so glad i have such a happy boy.

They confirmed RSV and told us they were keeping us for at least 24 hour observation. If he could stay off oxygen and keep his pulse ox up they would release him.

Yesterday he got his appetite back and even was smiling and cooing some. They said he looked great and they were releasing us. They told me to keep a close eye on him. I have to suction him out before and after each feeding and any other time he sounds like he might be congested. This is all in hopes of preventing pneumonia from forming.

We are home now and so glad to have the worst behind us (God willing). Prayers are still very much appreciated. We have a follow up appointment on Wednesday with his pediatrician and i also have a midwife appointment.

Now we are just trying to keep everyone separated and out of faces. Lots of hand washing and antibacterial gel using going on in this house. No one, outside the 5 of us, with a snotty nose or cough is aloud in the house. Just taking what ever precautions we can. Unfortunately i seem to have picked up a bug while at the hospital so this is proving harder done than said.

In Which I Say Nothing

I really wish i could come to you today with a cute story about what the kids have done today or a inspiring tale of some deep learning or knowledge, but today is not going to be that day.

Today has just been one of those days where i feel lost. Not only when it comes to what to blog about, but just about everything.

I thought i was getting over my sickness/Bronchitis from last week but in all actuality it just went from Bronchitis to a Sinus Infection.

I don't know about you but i can deal with a cough much better than i can deal with a clogged up head. Everything is foggy and it is like i am trying to think and instead i just sit here with this blank look on my face.

Prime example of my groggy, foggy head.

Earlier around 2:30:

Phabian: Mama! Mama can i have something to drink?

Me: Sure honey. What do you want to drink water or milk?

Phabian: Can I have chocolate milk?

Me: Yea just give me a minute.

An hour later:

Phabian: Mama! MAMA! I thought you were gunna get me some chocolate milk.

Me: I am honey i ask you to hold a minute.

Phabian: I been holdin forever!

I finally realized my few minutes had turned into almost an hour. I felt horrible. I really did not realize that an hour had passed.

I wish i had some great excuse for my neglect but no. I was just sitting at the desk staring at a half empty email box.

This is how it has been all day.

My head is hurting. I can not bend over because it makes my whole head throb (which is going to make bath time fun). My nose can not or will not stop running/stuffing/being raw from blowing.

I JUST WISH I COULD GO TO BED!

Dear God,
Please let 8 hurry up and get here so i can put my dear, sweet, forgiving children to bed. And if you can find the time could you please make the echo in my ear drums stop.
With All The Appreciation I Can Muster,
Courtney

I'm Dying...

Or at least that is what it feels like!

I have bronchitis. Anyone who has ever had this probably knows what i am talking about.

My chest feels like there is a thousand pound weight on it and to add to that a tiger has taken its claws and shredded my lungs.

My whole body hurts and i have a mild fever.

My head feels like it just might fall off my shoulders.

The only great news of the day is that i have the best MIL in the world. She came and got the kids so i could rest. Because i picked today (when my dear sweet husband has to work a double shift and wont be home til probably 10) of all day to be on my death bed.

Thank you Brenda you are the best woman in the whole world and I love you!

So the point of this whiny mess? Just to let you know that if i go MIA i am most certainly not dead, and Sione' is still safely inside. I am just hacking up a lung and trying to keep breathing.

Puke...Vomit...Whatever You Call It

We got it all!

MJ has had diarrhea for the past few days but i didn't think anything of it other than we are trying to potty train and it was a little inconvenient. But this morning he woke up about 5 am throwing up everywhere. He can't keep anything down. The poor thing doesn't have anything in his stomach so for the most part he is just dry heaving.

Just when i thought that was enough Phabian woke up at 8 and now at 9 he is throwing up everywhere too. I am pregnant so you can imagine how well it works for my stomach watching and comforting 2 puking kids. My stomach is turning and thank God i don't have a weak stomach or we would be in serious trouble.

Marcus is at work trying to hurry and get out so he can come home and help but it seems he can't get here fast enough. At the moment MJ is asleep on the couch and Phabian is watching Alvin and the Chipmunks in his bed. Neither have a fever or any other symptoms which makes me hesitant to take them to the ER less this continue for too long and they get dehydrated; then it really isn't an option not to.

I am suppose to be at work at 2 but obviously can not take the kids to the babysitter. Which leaves me waiting till Marcus gets home before i can go, and then leaves me feeling guilty because i should be home taking care of my babies but yet we really need the money.

What would you do? Would you take them to the ER or wait it out and see if it passes? Would you go ahead to work knowing how bad you need the money or would you stay home to take care of your kids and say the money can wait? I guess this is the life of a working Mom and it is such a hard position to be in.

House of the 3 Sickos

Well once again we are all sick! I mean snotty nose, watery eyes, coughing till your blue in the face sick! The only one who escaped this miserable state of existence is my husband! For some reason no matter how sick the rest of us are he NEVER gets it!

I ask him yesterday as i laid paralyzed with the sniffles our couch how the heck this works. Does he have some kind of magic elixir that he takes when we all get sick that keeps his immune to it? I am a little bitter about this! No really i am BITTER!

The only thing i hate more than puking is my nose running. I dont know if this is allergies or a cold but ever time i think my nose is going to stop, my eyes start to water, my nose gets the twitchy feeling and i sneeze. This intern makes my nose run some more! It is a horrible cycle that makes me miserable.

The kids are just as bad. Both of them have snot running down their faces and the difference is they dont care. They will wipe it off with their arm and go on about their business. I wish i could be that care free. Alas i am not. So i wipe, and i blow, and i wipe some more till my poor nose is sore and raw. Then i put some Aquaphor on it to protect it but five seconds later i just wipe it off again!

I hate being sick and having allergies!!!!!

So please excuse me while i heal and wait on my kiddos to heal!

What Is Happening!!!

First me and now Phabian. I got up at 7 and woke Phabian up so that i could get him ready for school. About 5 minutes after i woke him up i noticed he was looking pale. I gave him a drink of milk and told him to sit down on the couch thinking maybe he just needs something in his belly and that will help. Apparently Mom does not know best because about 5 minutes later he started coughing and threw up. i don't know if he threw up because he was coughing or if he has what i had yesterday but i guess only time will tell.

So here i am, as i was yesterday, sitting at home dealing with vomit. I am going to try and keep him hydrated and maybe give him some toast and dry stuff through the day. I hate when i feel bad but i really really hate when my babies are sick. I feel so helpless when they are sick because what can i do besides hold them and make them feel better with love. Being a mommy is so hard and it seems if it isn't one thing it is another.

I didn't go to work yesterday cause i could barley stand up without throwing up. I slept on and off all day and tried to rest as much as i could between taking care of the kids. I am feeling much better to day but as luck would have it i must have passed it on. I wouldn't wish vomiting on my worst enemy. I hate it! It is the worst thing to have to do when you are sick.

I need your prayers that Phabian will get better soon and that i can keep MJ from catching it (which i highly doubt). It would be nice to escape this round of sickness without MJ catching it.

I am suppose to be at work today at 2 but i cant take the kids to the babysitter sick. So i don't know what to do. I think this is partly why i never wanted to work and i just wanted to be a SAHM. When you work you have to make arrangements and call off and rearrange plans when your babies need you instead of just being there no matter what. So i think i am going to wait for Hubby to get home and then go to work. Hopefully he will be home before 6 so i can get in there and help them finish up this weeks order.

I hate feeling like i am letting someone down but my babies come first. I was a mom before i had this job and i will be a mom long after. I hope my boss can work with me and understand. Pray for me!

Blah!!!!

I am sick! The kind of sick that makes you want to not leave your bedroom. Just lay in bed with a trashcan in reach. Yea that is me today. I started feeling a little nauseous at work last night but finished out the work and came home and passed out. I woke up about 2 hours later with that twisted feeling in my belly. Needless to say it wasn't pretty for the rest of the night. Now i am exhausted and want to do nothing more than sleep.

Hubby had to work at 6am so i had no choice but to get up with the kids. Which we didn't wake up til 8:30 so Phabian didn't make it to school. Which i guess i don't really care as i was not going to be able to walk him over there anyways and him and MJ have been all snotty and coughing too. I am hoping i will feel better by 2 today so i can go to work but if not i guess it will be home for me. I don't think making a food product, when you are sick, that thousands of people are going to eat would be a good idea anyways.

So i am just going to try and sleep for awhile when i lay the kids down for a nap and i think a trip to the doctor is in order. Cross your fingers and pray that it isn't the flu cause i cant handle that right now plus that kids haven't had the shot this year (i now bad mom right here).

Hope everyone else is feeling way better than me today. Oh yea and just to add this in there, i am not going to be doing as much random posting. With job outside the house, kids to take care of, and exhausted mommy syndrome i don't have time for random. I will try to post as often as possible and maybe throw some random in there when i feel up to it. I hope someone will miss me lol!

Ok Ok Im Here

So i realize i have neglected you for a few days. Allow me to explain what has been going on that could possibly be so important as to attain all of my attention.

First off, as you may already know, Phabian has had an ear infection. He is doing so much better after being on the antibiotics for a few days now and i am so glad. I hate to, as most moms do, see my baby sick. He really took it like a champ though. He never complained once about his ear after that first night. He got to see the doctor and after that everything was magically better.

Second i have been spending as much time with my babies as possible because some time this week i will be starting my new job. I am very very nervous and apprehensive about working. I had someone tell me the other day (which i know this is not the case) that i am selfish for wanting a job because i was the one who choose to have kids and be a wife. Now before I get 1000 comments from mommy's ready to take this persons head off let me say that this came from a person with no kids. Ah yes we all under stand now! She just doesn't get it and that is ok. I know what is right for my family and that is what matters. What is right for us you may ask! Well let me tell you: a happy mama! The me time this job allows me will make me happy intern making my family happy.

Next on a list of what has kept me away from my loyal readers. My husbands birthday was yesterday. I set everything up so that we could celebrate on Friday because he wasn't sure he would be off Saturday night or not. So Friday (while he was at work) i spent the day running back and forth between our house, his mom's house, and K-Mart. His mom and I went in 50/50 on a Wii for his 31st birthday. He knew we were planning something but had no clue. He later told me that he really though we were buying a jersey or something lol. He was so shocked to discover a Wii in that heavy box.

His mom also watched the kids while we went to dinner at Tidewater Bar and Grill. They have by far the most delicious seafood. He had never been and this was like my 5 or 6th time. We ordered fried calamari for an appetizer and it was delicious! Then we both had a Greek salad with out Seafood Grill which is a grill mix that has Swordfish, Salmon, Scallops, and Shrimp all grilled to perfection. I had steamed veggies with mine and he had a baked potatoes. They also have the best poppy seed rolls in the world!!!!!! So that was Friday!

This brings me to my last reason for being a bad blog hostess! On Saturday (which my husband did not end up working) that Wii kicked my ever lovin booty!!! I am hooked on this thing and my competitive nature combined with my husband's competitive nature makes us spend hours trying to beat each others scores. Prime example: I don't like baseball! I have never played and i never had an interest in playing! During high school when we would play in gym class i would sit out and claim PMS for the day, but somehow on this darned Wii i find myself obsessively trying to beat my husbands home run record. Why? Because i want him to see that i can be better than him i guess!

We have no games for it yet, and we don't have the Wii Fit or anything. Just the plain Wii Sports Pack that comes with the Wii Sports disk which contains nothing more than Tennis, Baseball, Bowling, Golf, and Boxing. Let me tell you though as i sit here typing this my body is in agony! My muscles hurt and i feel like my arms might just fall off. My competitiveness has led to me realizing how out of shape i am. The Wii has kicked my butt and i haven't even got the exercise gizmo's to go with the darn thing yet. Good thing is that at least i know i will be having fun while i work the flab off my butt and thighs.

So these are the reasons i have been missing. And if you find that i go missing again you will know where to find me. I will be the girl with circles under her eyes stretched out on the couch, collapsed in pain cause she has been playing a Wii non stop for days while trying to tend to her two kids. That's me! Now if you have any suggestions for games i am so open to it!

Just Some Thoughts

I am very sick today. Worse than yesterday. It is kind of like riding a roller coaster. On minute I'm up and feeling ok and then i am back down with a fever and in pain. I hate it. I would love a big bowl of home made chicken noodle soup. I would make some myself but i just don't have the energy and i don't have any canned. Not that its as good as home made but it would do the job. I tried to fix some chicken flavored Ramen noodles but it just wasn't the same ya know.

Marcus has worked evenings the last 2 nights and it has killed me. Why now am i sick when he has had to work evening shifts. The kids are so much worse in the evening than they are in the mornings. Especially like today when they didn't take a nap. But the good part is that it is 8:18pm and they are passed out lol.

I myself got up in horrendous pain at 9 am. Then i went back to bed at 11:30 and slept til 3:30pm. Hubby woke me up before he left for work since the kids weren't asleep. We had noodles and chicken sandwiches for dinner cause that's all the energy i had to fix.

Well that is all for today. My kiddos are asleep so i am going to take a hot shower and then go to bed. I am so tired. You know the sick tired where you cant keep your eyes open much less do anything with a purpose lol. I am lucky i got this blog out in a way anyone can understand it.

Random Day

Today is just one of those days where you don't wanna get out of bed. I don't really feel very good today. My throat is sore and my head is pounding. I cant seem to keep my eyes open. I feel so tired and just plain drained. On top of that i really have to get some stuff done today. I have to go to Phabian's Pedi office and sign release forms so i can get copies of his Immunization records and his most recent Physical. Marcus just went and payed our sewer bill, and i still haven't managed to get my house cleaned.

Maybe my body has been telling me for the past 2 days to slow down. I haven't cleaned my house like i needed to even though i planned on doing so for the past 2 days. I just have felt blah and maybe it was this sickness coming on. I hate when i feel like this because it interferes with me doing what i need to do. My mind wonders and i cant seem to focus on anything. Grrrr it just aggravates me.

On to more pleasant things. I dabbled in Photography all summer. I am by far not the most brilliant photographer that's for sure. i cant photograph anything that is moving. I don't have the right camera or the steady and quick reflexes. But i guess i do a decent job with still photography (i think that's what its called but I'm not sure). I love to photograph flowers, food, and anything that will hold still for a few mins. I recently got a few good shots of a praying mantis. I will share a few.

I know they aren't great but for using a regular digi camera and my lack of skill i think they are great. I always loved the beauty of nature. I don't like bugs and i was pretty far away when i took these pictures but it all turned out ok since the zoom on my camera works pretty well. The flowers at the top are also a picture that i took and altered the color to a more pale look with the programs that came with my computer (which are just basic and not very good). I wish i could work Photoshop but i never could figure it out lol.

I try to take pictures of the kids and here are some of my best artistic shots of them.

One again not great but the best i can do with the camera and programs i have. I really wish i head a better camera and knew how to work a better program but maybe one day i will. As for now i will be satisfied with what i have. Phabian is my big camera hog. MJ is just not interested in the camera which sometimes yields the better pictures as i can get him in more intimate moments. Phabian always wants to be right in the camera which means i have a lot of face shots and not a lot of personal time shots of him just doing something. With time i will get better though and you learn a lesson from every shot you take i guess.

So i am going to go and try to get on with my day. Pedi's office gets back from lunch at 1 so we will leave then to get the papers and what not. I hope i feel better as the day goes on. Excuse my rambling and off topicness.
