Goodbye 2009/Hello 2010!

I was going to try and write some elegant post about how 2009 royally sucked and how 2010 is gunna be so much better but what good would that do. Instead we will do a little review and then maybe talk about the future.

I spent a most of the year looking like this:
And this:
And then the end of the year enjoying this:
And this:
And this:
2009 was not all bad. I was pretty miserable for at least half of it but who isnt miserable being that pregnant lol. But last year brought me a blessing in my little man. I will always look back on 2009 just as i look back on 2004, 2005 and 2006 as the most blessed and wonderful years of my life.

We had financial trouble just like the rest of the world did. We fought over which bills should be paid and which could be skipped this month. Even now as the New Year begins we find ourself overloaded in debts and behind on bills. But 2010 also brings income taxes which will help us catch up on what we need to.

This year will be filled with milestones. Of course there will be lots from my little bug. First words, first foods, first vacations, first meetings of distant family, first steps, first crawls, a first birthday, and many many more. Also this year will bring us a milestone for Phabian. He will be turning 5 in March. I can no longer refer to him as a preschooler. He will start elementary school in the fall, kindergarten which is all day long.
I am not completely sure what this year hold for us. I am sure there will be lots of tears both of sadness and joy. I am sure there will be lots of smiles. I know there will be happy moments and moments of sadness. There will be milestones met with bittersweet feelings as i watch my baby bug grow and my other 2 boys start new chapters in their lives.

So here is to 2009 and all it brought and to 2010 and all it will bring. I learned a lot of lessons and i just know there are many more to be learned this year. And as for resolutions i will leave those to everyone else. Me, i am just going to work on being a better me all around. No specifics and no pressure.

Priorities

button for MU

This is a subject that i could use a little practice in. I have been know to get things all messed up and when things are not put in the correct order it seems they all crumble into a big messy pile of crap. Kristen at Motherhood Uncensored invited us all to partake in 2009: The Year of the Mom by writing about what we will do this year to take better care of ourselves. I for one think i not only deserve to take better care of myself but also desperately need to do so.

My priorities as they stand go something like this: Clean the house on a daily basis, make sure the kids are fed, clothed, and bathed daily, play with the kids and teach them, make sure hubby is satisfied with his life in what ever way it should be addressed, make sure the bills get paid on time as to avoid cut off notices, and somewhere after all of this and more i find time for me to get 10 minutes to just breathe.

This year i want to try and bump me up the list. A happy mama makes for a happy family right? There are and have been so many times where i just don't put my needs first when i sometimes should. I want to pamper me sometimes and take care of my stress level.

Things i would like to do for me this year include: Getting a mani/pedi at least once every 2 months, taking 30 minutes a day to read a few chapters out of a book in silence, turn off the TV and computer and just be with myself to think about me, get in at least 30 minutes of exercise a day even if it means ust walking down the road and back again, eat healthies so that i can be the best me i can for my family, and get some good quality sleep.

Now i know those things don't sound like a lot but those are the top of my priority list this year to make me a happy, healthy, stress free mama so that i intern can make my family a happy, healthy, stress free family. I believe happiness starts with one and can spread to many so i plan on spreading the happy bug.

I have a million other things to accomplish this year some more important than others but i will make time for me. I will think about me and how i am affecting my family. I will complain less and be thankful more. I will remember that this is 2009: The Year of the Mom!
