Little Quick Post

Today is my Anniversary so i am not going to write a big long post. I will save that for tomorrow and tell you how today went.

Phabian got his school pictures back today and i must say i am very very impressed. My usually cheesing child actually gave them a nice beautiful smile. I spent a little more than i wanted to but i got a good deal. 1-specialized 10x13, 1-8x10, 4-5x7, 24-wallets for $67. They also give them a free shirt that has a picture on it and says, "I am special at Shining Light Preschool 2008-2009". It is so nice. So i will share a few pictures and you can rejoice with me about how non shoolish looking these are (because i am sure all of us have those hideous school pictures hiding somewhere in a show box in the floor of a deep dark basement lol).

What I Want

So tomorrow is our 4 year wedding anniversary as i have said many times this week and my dear sweet hubby keeps asking what i want. So i have thought about it a lot. I though maybe some jewelry but i hate spending that much money on something that we cant eat or use as a family. I told him a few months ago i wanted some supplies to get my cake business going but i don't really think that is what i want. So i have come to this conclusion. I want the same thing i ask for every year.

What is that you ask, well i was just about to tell you! Every year i think about what i want. I go through the usual list and then i always end up at the same solution. So here it is, exactly what i want for our anniversary.

• I want to sleep in at least til 10 with no interruptions. This means i want no kids busting in the room a million times to kiss me and jump on my head. I want complete uninterrupted sleep for a whole 8 hours.
  
• I would love to wake up to a clean house. It doesn't have to look like God came down from heaven and did it himself but i would like to not have to go and clean behind what you "missed".
  
• I want diner, either out at a nice restaurant or at home that YOU cooked, it really doesn't matter as long as i don't have to lift a finger to get it done. I want it to be just the two of us. One night where there are no screaming kids at the dinner table to interrupt the adult conversation. (and yes i expect to have adult conversation)
  
• I want to snuggle on the couch late at night and watch a movie. It doesn't have to be anything specific just a good movie that we can cuddle up and watch just you and me.
  
• Lastly, and i will not go into specifics, i want a good night "Kiss"! A good one not a short "peck" or two.

So i don't think i am asking for much. Most of the things above will and can cost way less than jewelry or anything else of the present nature. I mean it is free to clean the house, aside from the ridiculously high bills we pay! So there it is that is what i want for our anniversary. Short, simple, and sweet!

Marshmallow Fondant

So i was looking around online for the cheapest price on 20lb containers of fondant. I came across several recipes for Marshmallow Fondant instead and decided that since it would be cheaper and obviously better tasting i would give it a try.

So today i spent 9 dollars and bought 5 bags of mini marshmallows and 3 bags of powdered sugar. I got luck and they were on sale at a local store. I got home and put a cake in the oven to cover with it. I bought a Betty Crocker Cake Pan set a long time ago that has all the different imprints. I chose to use the hearts and German chocolate cake. I melted the marshmallows, added the powdered sugar and poured it out on the greased table. I kneaded it like bread and ya know what.....it turned out great.

The first batch turned out so good that i went ahead an did a few more batch (it will keep in the fridge for up to two weeks) in pink, blue, and green. I got it on the cake and smoothed it out, trimmed it and although the design on top was not standing enough for the fondant to really work it did give it a pretty soft finish and it tastes much better than regular fondant.

This makes me wonder why in the heck don't more people use this instead of regular fondant. Fondant, if you buy it pre-made costs about $50 (give or take) for a 20lb container this stuff literally cost me less than 9 bucks for about 10 or more pounds of fondant. I had never heard of this till i stumbled upon the recipe. I am so happy i did cause in the long run it will save me a whole lot of money.

I would post pictures of the cake but it got cut and served before i even had a chance so oh well. It sure was yummy!

My Husband

This has nothing to do with this post but Happy Veterans Day. Thanks to all those who are serving now and in the past to protect us and our freedom, and a special thanks to those military families who sometimes suffer in silence while their loved ones are away.

So as i said yesterday my Anniversary is coming up on Friday and i am so happy. So i though i would make this day all about my husband. Now to many he may not be anything special but to me he is the light in my day. There is something about that man that just makes my heart melt and my temper flare at times lol.

I met him for the first time through Chelsie back in December of 2003. At the time I was 17 and still in high school (yes i was a baby lol). He was working at Taco Bell which just so happened to be a daily stop for me and Chelsie. So every time we would go through the drive through he would flirt with me and i think i just was kind of like "whatever"! When i turned 18 Chelsie and I started going to the clubs a lot and i started to see him and talk to him more. Chelsie being the great sister she is told me not to date him (thanks Chels) and so for awhile i listened. We talked and he was such a sweet guy.

Finally in late May i needed a ride home from the club and i didn't feel like waiting on a cab (by this time Chels had stopped going out because she found out she was pregnant with my beautiful Niece Jayden) so i ask him if he would mind take me home. He said it was fine and i was so glad because i was not in the mood to wait an hour for a cab to show up at 4am. After we dropped off a few more people we head towards my house and that's when he ask me if i wanted to go to IHOP lol. Yes, i know, IHOP, such a great first date LOL! Anyways i said yes. We went and i ate his pancakes that came with his meal. A few weeks later i just knew he was the one.

We had only been together about a month when i found out i was pregnant with Phabian and we at that time had already talked about getting married. Now 4 years later i can say i have never regretted meeting or marrying this man. Yes i know we only dated for a month before i became pregnant and yes we only dated for 6 months before we got married, but we were in love and that is all that mattered.

I have to admit my husband is not perfect (well duh he IS a MAN lol). He forgets to take out the trash, and doesn't do the dishes when i ask, and sometimes he does this thing when he is just sitting around where he licks the corner of his mouth and it drives me insane, but he is a good man. He goes to work everyday he has too and some days that he doesn't, he works overtime just so that we can have the extra money, he provides for his family to the fullest, he can get off at 2 am come home sleep for 4 hours and get back up with the kids at 6 when he knows i need a break, he truly is a wonderful husband. On the days he lets me sleep in (usually on his days off) he will wake me up with a cup of coffee fixed just as i like it and a kiss on the forehead. He treats me like a queen and i treat him like a king.

I couldn't have ask for more when i found my husband. He is my best friend, love of my life, and trusted advisor. He helps me to raise 2 of the most wonderful kids on the world and he is damn good at it. He plays with his kids and sets the best example i could ask for his boys. He makes sure he is there for every school meeting, birthday party, and doctor's appointment. For that matter in the almost 4 1/2 years we have been together he has never missed one prenatal, OB/GYN, or pediatricians appointment. He has comforted me when i am sad, laughed with me when i am happy (he has always been able to make me smile), and held me when i feel like cuddling. He is my hubby and i am so glad that God brought him my way.

Many Moons Ago

My four year anniversary with my husband is coming up on Friday, but i will write more about that on Friday. Today i want to talk about honeymoons.


This is a picture of the sunset at Clearwater Beach, Fla on November 15th 2004. That was the first night of our honeymoon. We took the picture as we walked down the pier. I remember we watched all the performers line up to do their acts and looked at all the hand made crafts people were selling. It was a truly memorable night. Are honeymoon was only 3 days and 2 nights. We didn't have a whole lot of money and had to get back home to WV soon.

Now this is not the honeymoon of my dreams. I would have much preferred a 7 day 6 night cruise to the Caribbean or something exotic but we all know that just was too expensive for 2 newlyweds preparing for their first child. So now we are planning a 2nd honeymoon. The kids are 2 and 3 now (almost 3 and 4) and i feel like we would be able to take a week long vacation all too ourselves.

We have talked about going many places. At the top of our list is Las Vegas. I have always wanted to go to LV but never thought i would. We have been looking up prices and checking things out. We are thinking next year for our anniversary or maybe a little before that since both kids will be in school.

Anyone have any thoughts? Any suggestions on what hotel to stay at or what shows to see? I am willing to take suggestions on other places to go also. Among my list are Fuji, Jamaica, Cabo, and anywhere else warm with a beach lol.
